I am just finishing up with my second student teacher in two years and it has been the worst educational experience of my life. He is incapable of putting together a cohesive unit lesson; he doesn't get the big picture; it is all about him; he had never heard of Web 2.0 when I suggested he look at some tools for kids to use (besides powerpoint). He's a mess. I cannot in good conscience give him a recommendation. After three years and 9 weeks, he's still not ready to be in a classroom. It's unbelievable. He whines and cries about working a 12 hour day (which he's done once!) and called in sick without leaving lesson plans. I don't even know where to begin. I know the gist of the article is 21st Century skills, but it's all-around unpreparedness. It's a serious problem. Our students cannot compete on a global level when they have teachers who are content to remain mediocre.Amy Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09020988877416448185noreply@blogger.com
